A cloth used in daily life since ancient times with lots of versatility
Large size for use as cloth, sheets, eco bags, and more
This furoshiki wrapping cloth is made with Shantung fabric for a subtle shimmer and pongee-like texture, and beautifully decorated with a bold and intricate Magatama pattern by a venerable dyeing mill in Hokkaido's Asahikawa City using Tenassen hand-dyeing.
The name "furoshiki" is said to date back to the Muromachi Period(1336-1573). When getting in the bath("furo"), one would wrap their clothing in a cloth adorned with their family crest, and after getting out of the bath, the cloth would be laid ("shiki") under the person's feet as they dressed. As times changed, this cloth has come more widely used for carrying belongings and also for conveying feelings by decorating it with various patterns and wrapping gifts with it.
Of course this furoshiki wrapping cloth can be used for its traditional purposes, and its large 90cmx90cm size also lets you use it as a tablecloth, a picnic blanket, an eco-bag, and more.
Furthermore, its Shantung fabric has a luster and texture that changes depending on the viewing angle, so it also makes a great addition to your interior as a wall decoration.
